Have A Toothache?

Get treatment ASAP.

Toothaches can be unpredictable. Onset may be sudden, or perhaps you’ve been living with pain over an extended period. Either way, the only way to treat the condition is by seeking help from a dentist. Despite the possibility of using painkillers, other medicines, or even at-home remedies, these will only provide temporary relief. A toothache will never go away on its own. To permanently relieve the discomfort, we must address the underlying problem. If you have a toothache, please don’t hesitate to contact our office to receive treatment as soon as possible.

What causes it?

The original cause of a toothache is usually a cavity in the tooth. The protective layer of enamel develops an imperfection, which allows bacteria to penetrate the tooth’s interior. Then, once the tooth is infected, this causes a painful sensitivity, often described as pressure or throbbing.

How to prevent a toothache.

The best way to prevent a toothache is proper at-home brushing and flossing, as well as regular trips to the dentist’s office for professional cleaning, exam, and X-rays. During your appointment, we’ll be able to catch the minor problems before they develop into big ones. And, hopefully, prevent a toothache altogether.

What’s the treatment?

If you do develop a toothache, the most common treatment is a root canal. People often think a root canal is painful, but the procedure is all about pain relief. And, once we remove the infection, the tooth can be restored and repaired with a porcelain dental crown. You’ll be back to chewing with ease in no time!

Occasionally, when a tooth has experienced severe decay, we might recommend extraction to remove the tooth altogether. In these instances, patients can replace the tooth with a variety of options, such as a dental bridge, partial denture, or dental implant.

No matter your level of need, we’ll determine the proper treatment for you!
